We hosted our second virtual meeting via Zoom on Tuesday and welcomed guest presenter, Catherine Redford. Catherine shared her quilting journey in her presentation, Lessons Learned while Quilting. She shared photos of her early quilts and more recent ones, many of which are embellished with beads and embroidery. Many of her pieces came out of various challenges and many also won prizes in competions. Those of us who attended were inspired by her beautiful work, and as one guild member commented in the chat, “gobsmacked by [her] creativity.” Thanks to Teresa for arranging our first virtual presenter.
During our social time prior to Catherine’s presentation, new member Mary showed us her collection of Featherweights (one of the advantages of zooming from her home!) and also shared some lovely batik snap bags she’s made for our boutique. Maxine shared a seasonal appliqué piece she’s working on, and many of us had quilts on camera behind us.
Phyllis reminded us of the upcoming sale of the stash of Janet Denny who died in June. Members will have received an email from with info shared by Phyllis and Tanya. The sale is October 23-24 at Gibsonville Baptist Church. Contact Phyllis if you can help with Thursday setup and/or sales on Friday and Saturday.
