Our July meeting is traditionally dubbed Christmas in July. The plan each July is to enjoy food, fun, and fellowship, and this year did not disappoint. Our meeting this year included several new events and many guests, and the evening was enjoyed by all.
One much anticipated event was the big reveal of our newest raffle quilt with a big round of applause for Sheila who created the center medallion and put our nine-patch blocks together in a beautiful design. We were also amazed by the intricate quilting designed by member, Gail Von Hoene of Stitch Meisters. Check out photos of the 2018 raffle quilt.
We held our first ever silent auction with the goal of cleaning out our sewing rooms and raising money for the guild. The competition was stiff as members and guests roamed the room and outbid one another on items they wanted, and the winners took home prized items.
We also had an ornament exchange – anyone who brought a handmade ornament drew a name and gave their ornament to that person. Several members also participated in a Christmas Challenge where they put fabric and a description of their hoped-for product in a bag and took home the bag of another participant. We look forward to seeing the completed projects at our December meeting.
